2010 Bristol Bay East Side Salmon Fishery News Release #52
Announcement for Egegik and Ugashik Districts
Districts Affected: Ugashik, Egegik

This is the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in King Salmon with an announcement for Ugashik and update for Egegik district fishermen. The time is 12:00 p.m. and the date is Thursday, July 15, 2010.
In the Ugashik District:  Escapement on July 14 was 72,000 bringing the cumulative to approximately 471,000. Cumulative harvest is approximately 3.0 million fish.
Commercial fishing will be extended in the Ugashik District with set and drift gillnet gear from 12:00 a.m. Friday July 16, until 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010.
In the Egegik District: escapement on July 14 was 88,000 bringing the cumulative to approximately 814,000 fish. Fish continue to pass the tower. The 6:00 a.m. count was 2,000. Cumulative catch is approximately 4.4 million. The department wishes to continue to allow escapement until the afternoon tide on Friday.
Commercial fishing will be allowed in the Egegik District with set and drift gillnet gear from 3:45 p.m. Friday, July 16, until 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010.
By regulation the 48-hour transfer waiting period in both districts ends effective 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17.
Beginning Friday July 16, the office hours in King Salmon will return the usual schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. The office will be closed this weekend.
